Jason D. May
As the founding attorney at May & Associates, Jason has earned the reputation as the best criminal defense attorney in Southern Oklahoma. Never backing down from a fight, Jason zealously represents every client regardless of public perception.
Since 2009, Jason has represented thousands of individuals charged with serious criminal offenses. A firm believer that no one is above the law, Jason has a history of exposing corruption in public officials.
Licensed to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eastern and Western District of Oklahoma Federal Courts, the State of Oklahoma, the Chickasaw Nation, and the Choctaw Nation, Jason should be your first call if you are under investigation or facing criminal charges.
Lora Stevens
With over twenty years of experience in the legal field, Lora has served as the office manager at May & Associates since 2014. A 1997 graduate of Marietta High School, Lora served as bailiff in the Twentieth Judicial District for District Judges John Scaggs and Dennis Morris from 2004-2013.
Lora has an Associates Degree with an emphasis in Legal Studies from Murray State College, but her knowledge of the judicial system goes well beyond her formal education. Lora’s contributions to the firm are invaluable as she schedules court hearings, assists clients in obtaining modified driver’s licenses, coordinates inpatient rehabilitation admissions, and arranges court ordered assessments and classes.
Lora also serves as the face of the office as she acts as the receptionist, greeting everyone who comes to the office with a smile and an offer of a refreshment.
Shelby Stevenson
Shelby has been a dedicated legal assistant at May & Associates since 2022. Shelby graduated from Lone Grove in 2019 and received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from East Central University in 2023. Shelby is currently working on a Master’s degree in psychology from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Shelby specializes in client communications, processes expungements, manages client files and coordinates client billing. Shelby is committed to providing exceptional support to our team and ensuring that our clients receive any assistance that they may need.
Bryce Smith
As an associate attorney at May & Associates, Bryce handles criminal defense and family law cases, providing legal solutions to individuals facing life’s most challenging situations. Upon completing his high school career at Plainview in 2017, Bryce graduated with honors from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2020. After his college graduation, Bryce followed his passion for justice and earned his law degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2024. Bryce is currently licensed to practice in Oklahoma as well as the Chickasaw Nation District Court.
Bryce’s approach centers on understanding the unique circumstances of each client, ensuring their rights are protected and their voices are heard. With a focus on clear communication and compassionate service, Bryce works diligently to achieve favorable outcomes while minimizing the emotional and financial strain of the legal process. Bryce provides tireless representation, strategic advice and the support you need to fight for your future and your family’s best interest.
Monika Marrs
As an associate attorney at May & Associates, Monika handles cases in the Chickasaw Nation District Court. A native of Germany, Monika graduated from Goethe University in Frankfurt in 2013 with the German equivalent of a Juris Doctorate.
Monika began her legal career as a clerk at the Higher Regional Court in Hanau, Germany and subsequently worked for the Hanau District Attorney’s office prosecuting domestic violence and sex crimes. From 2017-2021, Monika worked in civil litigation and criminal defense for a law firm in Aschaffenburg, Germany.
Monika relocated to Ardmore in 2021 where she worked for a family law firm until her employment with May & Associates in 2024. Fluent in English, French, and German, Monika is currently studying to receive an LLM degree from the Texas A&M College of Law, which will allow her to obtain her license to practice in federal and state court.
Heather Whitsell
Heather serves as the legal liaison for May & Associates. As legal liaison, Heather’s primary role is coordinating with clients whose cases are likely to proceed to trial or a contested hearing, developing a connection with those clients in order to assist our attorneys in fully understanding the complexities of each case.
A 2002 graduate of Paris High School, Heather received her bachelor’s degree in Theatre from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2007. Local fans of the arts may recognize Heather from the many roles she has played in Ardmore Little Theater productions. Prior to her employment at May & Associates, Heather served as the director of Create Ardmore, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating an alliance for artists in our community.
